A conversation with a wise girlfriend you’re seeing after awhile can be food for thought. As you exchange titbits of information about news and the then and the now, there’s realization and growing up that happens in those very moments.
I mentioned a name, quite unconsciously with reference to something else. She picked it up and [...]
I love this song. Unabashedly. I wish I could dance outside in the rain singing this very song. In fact, maybe I will.
I was talking to a friend about (what else?) a guy we both knew. Nothing much to tell except that he was cute and thought I was too. Attraction is a good thing, [...]
Ever since I’ve put up this slightly controversial (and I’ll admit biased and brash) post…actually even before that, I’ve been hit with the question of why I do want committment at all then if it’s such a terrible thing. My reasons may not be all deeply soulful or romantic or even honorable. As I see [...]
I’m reading a book called Rubbish Boyfriends. But hang on, that’s not all that’s responsible for this mood o’ mine. I’ve been talking (and talking and talking) to the following women:
A has been steadily (as opposed to happily) married to a ‘Who says we get it right the first time?’ pedigree-carrier.
B is married to the [...]
This account by HawkEye made me smile and my fingers itched to type back something acidic that only the female of our species would find funny. I desisted.
Like all urban woman, sustained on a balanced diet of chocolate, over-named cocktails and credit card bills, I’m an SATCist – a loyal fan of Sex and the [...]
The one safety valve on a man who goes with too many women is the fact that there are a that many vindictive/resentful/unsure-about-feeling women to ally with.
I’m reminded of a conversation from Fables: The Mean Seasons between Cinderalla, Briar Rose (Sleeping Beauty) and Snow White that goes,
We’re like an annual meeting of his parole board, [...]
A friend asked me,
Have you ever felt bad on coming across photos of an ex (who you’re supposed to have wiped out from your memory etc and moved on) romancing another person? I know I don’t want him anymore, but it just sucks all the same.
In response I mailed her this. And this post is [...]
Got a message now telling me that I can get pictures of Priyanka, Lara, Preity, Amrita, Kareena and other Punjabi beauties if I message back. Didn’t know Rao was Punju. Unless they meant ‘Mard’ Singh. La Singh ex-Khan has far more spunk than Wallflower Rao we think. Matched wonly by the irrepressible Archana Puran Singh.
But [...]
More and more I find I can relate to women better than to men.
Women seem more like my kin than they ever did; and men finally really the ‘THEM’
I used to be a tomboy, fairly genderless inside my mind. Now I find I’ve come so far from there, I almost can’t relate to the male [...]

I saw a re-run of Koffee with Karan’s show with Ekta Kapoor. I had read Sakshi’s observation on the first viewing already so my curiosity was piqued beforehand anyway. I have to say, I was mighty surprised.
Somehow, I’ve always carried an impression of Ekta Kapoor as a rather maudlin, unnessarily brash woman – a power-hungry, [...]
So I finally finished ‘The secret dreamworld of a shop-a-holic‘. Oh, don’t run away! My taste in books hasn’t turned as sour as my taste in men (highly questionable according to one reliable source). Let’s start with how I come to be in possession of this disastrous book.
Earlier this month, I spotted it while browsing [...]
Choice…that’s a good word. The key word for my generation of women. What sets us apart from the women who fought for a vote, the ones who burnt their bras or threw off their aprons and went to work? The fact that we have a choice. We are the ones who are enjoying the fruits of their labors, their sacrifices. As much as I crib about the state of things and how we are still backward in our stereotyping attitudes, I know I’m exceptionally lucky.
I don’t have to have a career. I could just as well be an liberal-minded daughter-in-law and then a modern mum. Or I could be an independent businesswoman. I could be a professional, a social worker, a writer, a travel correspondent….anything at all. I could be any combination of all of them.
